Greetings and welcome! Thank you for your interest in my research
Two-Spirit Love.
My name is Roger Kuhn. I am an enrolled member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, a sovereign nation whose tribal territory is located near Atmore, AL. I identify as a Poarch Creek Two-Spirit Indigiqueer of mixed Indigenous and European heritage I use he/they pronouns and further identify as gay (lower case g!).
I am directly connected to my tribal community and visit several times a year to see my mother, Joyce, plus family and friends who live on or near the Poarch reservation. I currently live in San Francisco, CA with my husband and two dogs.
Professionally I work as a licensed marriage and family therapist (#96853) in a private practice office in San Francisco. I am also a college professor and Core Faculty member of the Somatic Psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) where I teach counseling psychology to graduate level students. I have recently accepted a lecturer position at San Francisco State University where I will teach an undergraduate class in their American Indian Studies program called Native Sexualities and Queer Discourse. My doctoral studies are in Human Sexuality.
Additionally I am a board member and former Chair of the Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits (BAAITS) and serve as a member of the leadership circle of the International Council of Two-Spirit Societies. For the past seven years I have helped organize the BAAITS Two-Spirit powwow. Most recently I am one of the curators of the exhibition
Two-Spirit Voices: Returning to the Circle which had its debut at the GLBT Historical Society Museum in San Francisco, CA.
Mvto (thank you),
Roger Kuhn
